Public Works & Maintenance Schedules

Spring/Summer Brush Pickup (Penn Street)

  • Eligible Items: Compostable waste, dead leaves, plant material, tree/bush trimmings, and branches up to 3" in diameter and 6' in length.
  • Requirements: Must be bundled with string or twine only.
  • Unacceptable Items: Stone, garbage, gravel, dirt, junk, and appliances.
  • Missed Pickups: Items not set out by 7:00 am or missed will be picked up the following week.
  • Alley Pickups: Only available for Sweet Cherry Court in Holiday Hills.

Pickup Schedule by Month:

  • May: East Side (4th, 11th, 18th); West Side (Every Tuesday)
  • June: East Side (8th, 22nd); West Side (9th, 23rd)
  • July: East Side (13th, 27th); West Side (14th, 28th)
  • August: East Side (10th, 24th); West Side (11th, 25th)
  • September: East Side (14th, 28th); West Side (15th, 29th)

Street Sweep Schedule:

  • Area 1: May 4-8; Sept 8-9
  • Area 2: May 11-15; Sept 14-16
  • Area 3: May 18-22; Sept 21-23
  • Area 4: May 26-29; Sept 28-30

Borough Happenings & Events

Public Meeting: Mattern Orchard & Sweet Cherry Court Parks

  • Date: Tuesday, May 19, 2026
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: Hollidaysburg Municipal Building, 401 Blair Street, Hollidaysburg, PA
  • Purpose: Open house to gather resident input on the future of these parks. Both are over 20 years old and need revitalization. Playground equipment was removed from Mattern Orchard last year due to safety; pavilion/equipment in Sweet Cherry Court is aging. Improvements are scheduled for late 2026 and 2027.
  • Contact: manager@hollidaysburgpa.org or call the Borough office if unable to attend.

Downtown Hollidaysburg Spring Cleanup 2026

  • Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
  • Time: Meet at 4:00 PM outside CopyRite on the Diamond. Cleanup runs until finished (likely before dark).
  • Location: Allegheny Street between Penn and North Juniata.
  • Details: Organized by Councilman Leahey. First 25 participants receive gloves and orange vests. Sturdy shoes, long pants, and sleeves recommended. Bring sunglasses/sunscreen/hat if needed.
  • Participation: Up to 25 participants expected. Ages 14+ preferred; under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. RSVP preferred but not required.
  • Contact: Call/text Councilman Leahey at 814-935-9218. Follow "Keep Blair Beautiful" on Facebook for updates.

Message from the Mayor (Chad A. Repko)

  • Public Safety: Urges drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians, kids, pets, and motorcycles. Encourages residents to stay alert while walking/jogging. Highlights the Borough’s pedestrian-friendly nature as a key asset for property values and quality of life.
  • K-9 Unit: Welcomed Officer Dea (German Short Hair Pointer) and handler Officer Ketner at the March Council Meeting. Dea is trained in narcotics detection, search/rescue, and community outreach. Funded by Operation Our Town and local businesses. Special thanks to retired Chief Storm and Chief Oldham.
  • Advocacy: Mayor reaffirms commitment to advocating for the community’s best interests, even on contentious issues. States he will not be dissuaded by non-residents or those not vested in the community.

Join a Borough Board or Committee

The Borough is seeking volunteers for two commissions:

  • Historic Preservation Commission (HPC): Protects and preserves the Borough’s history, buildings, and heritage for future generations.
  • Shade Tree Commission: Enhances community beauty and environmental health by overseeing care and maintenance of public shade trees.

How to Apply:

  • Visit the Borough Building or website to complete a Volunteer Interest Form.
  • Ideal for those passionate about history, environment, or community service.
