Street Sweeping Program Street Sweeping Services The Hollidaysburg Borough Public Works Services Department establishes a street sweeping schedule each year. Sweeping is conducted in designated areas at least once per week during each scheduled month, according to the published schedule. Street sweeping is performed on a weather-permitting and available-personnel basis; however, every effort is made to complete sweeping in each designated area as scheduled. In addition to keeping streets clean, routine street sweeping serves several important purposes within the Borough: Keeps Debris and Pollutants From Entering The Storm Sewer System and Ultimately The Beaverdam River Removes Loose Gravel, Leaves and Debris That May Contribute To Accidents, Vehicle Damage, or Hazards For Pedestrians and Bicyclists Reduces Wind-Blown Dust and Road Debris Onto Adjacent Properties and Helps Reduce Airborne Pollution Improves The Visibility of Pedestrian Crosswalks Enhances The Overall Appearance and Aesthetics of The Community Resident Cooperation During Scheduled Sweeping During the weeks your street is scheduled to be swept, residents are encouraged to remove vehicles from the street whenever possible. This allows street sweeping to be performed efficiently and effectively in each designated area. Your cooperation with this public service program is greatly appreciated. Street sweeping is organized by area. Street sweeping will begin April 6th and will be Monday – Friday, it will continue into May with the exception of the 25th. It will begin again in September and will be every Monday – Wednesday starting on the 8th.
