Overview The Hollidaysburg Borough Authority (HBA) has released its "Quality on Tap" Water Quality Report for the 2025 report year. Water System & Treatment Process Source: The HBA system is connected to the Altoona Water Authority (AWA) system. Treated water is purchased from AWA, which draws raw water from the Muleshoe Reservoir (owned by HBA) and the Plane Nine Reservoir (owned by AWA). Treatment: Water is treated at the Plane Nine Filtration Plant. The process includes: Ozone: Used to destroy bacteria and organic materials. Filtration: Sand filters remove sediment and particles. Corrosion Inhibitor: Added to prevent reaction with distribution pipes and home plumbing. Chlorine: Applied for disinfection during transport to customers. Lead Information Health Risks: Elevated lead levels pose serious health risks, particularly to pregnant women and young children. Source: Lead in drinking water primarily comes from service lines and home plumbing materials, which the Authority cannot control.
