Ordinance No. 826: Traffic Code Amendment Summary

This ordinance amends the Borough of Hollidaysburg’s traffic code, effective January 10, 2008. It updates speed limits, designates reserved parking for handicapped individuals, and establishes new parking meter zones with time restrictions.


Speed Limits on Certain Streets (Section 201)

The maximum speed limit is set at 25 mph on:

  • Clark Street (between Walnut & Hickory Streets)
  • Walnut Street (between Jones & Bella Streets)

Reserved Handicapped Parking Spaces (Section 412)

The following locations are designated for handicapped parking:

  • Allegheny Street: Meter Space 21-A (North side)
  • Beaver Street: Meter Space 48-A (North side)
  • Blair Street: 117 feet from Union Street intersection (North side)
  • Clark Street:
    • First two spaces south from Strawberry Alley (East side)
    • 413 Clark Street (Library) — Meter Space 90 (West side)
  • Front Street: Meter Space 54 (East side)
  • Montgomery Street: 26 feet west from Montgomery Street (209 Montgomery Street) — Meter Space 59 (West side)
  • Mulberry Street: 229 feet north from Betts Street Intersection (South side)
  • Municipal Parking Lot: 512 Pine Street (South side)

Parking Meter Zones and Time Limits (Section 501)

Parking meter zones are established as follows, per the Parking Meter Zone Map dated September 2007:

ZONE 1: Twelve Minute Parking Zone

  • Allegheny Street: Meter Spaces 2A, 2B, 3A, 8A, and 85B
    • From N. Juniata Street to Penn Street (both sides), except for spaces designated as a 12-minute zone in Zone 1, and the South side of Allegheny Street between Union Street and Penn Street.

ZONE 2: Two Hour Parking Zone

  • Montgomery Street: East and West sides between Strawberry Alley and Cherry Alley.

ZONE 3: Four Hour Parking Zone

  • Front Street: East and West sides between Strawberry Alley and Cherry Alley.
  • Wayne Street: East and West sides between Strawberry Alley and Cherry Alley.
  • Union Street: East and West sides between Strawberry Alley and Cherry Alley.

ZONE 4: Municipal Parking Lot - Eight Hour Parking Zone

  • Meter spaces 59 through 71.

Legal Notice

Vehicles parked in violation of these time limits may be towed at the owner’s expense. The ordinance was adopted by the Council on January 10, 2008, and approved by Mayor Joseph R. Dodson on the same date. Attested by Ann M. Andrews, Secretary.
