Fall Brush & Leaf Collection (2024) Residents are reminded that items must be placed in brown compost bags with no tape and at the curb by 7:00 AM. If bags are missed, leave them out for the next available pickup.

Fort Roberdeau 18th Century Dinner
- Date: Sunday, October 6th at 2:00 PM.
- Location: The Casino at Lakemont Park.
- Details: A fundraising event featuring a colonial Philadelphia dinner to mark the site's 50th anniversary as a National Historic Site.

PA Blair County Career Link® Job Fair
- Date: Wednesday, October 9th.
- Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Veterans welcome for exclusive entry at 9:30 AM).

- Details: Over 100 hiring employers, on-the-spot interviews, and workshops. No cost to attend; no pre-registration required.

National Walk To A Park Day
- Date: October 10th.
- Details: Encouraging residents to visit local parks and trails. The City of Altoona notes that 90% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park.

- Role: Staffing telephones for crisis intervention, information/referral, social calls, and safety checks.

All Together Altoona Open House
- Date: Tuesday, October 29th from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM.
- Location: Margaret Avenue Training Facility, 1747 Margaret Avenue.
- Purpose: To gather resident input on updating land development and zoning ordinances as part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
Library Services
Altoona Area Public Library Tool Lending Program
- Overview: Residents can borrow tools for home improvement, crafting, and DIY projects.
- Inventory: Includes basic handtools (hammers, ladders) and specialized equipment (power drills, pressure washers).
- Terms: Borrowing period is 2–28 days depending on the tool. A liability waiver must be signed.

National Walk To A Park Day Mayor Matthew Pacifico has officially declared October 10, 2024, as "National Walk To A Park Day" in the City of Altoona. This proclamation endorses the goals of the 10-Minute Walk Program® and encourages residents to utilize the city's parks and trails.
