The City of Altoona notes that 90% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park. Volunteer & Civic Engagement CONTACT Altoona Fall Volunteer Training Role: Staffing telephones for crisis intervention, information/referral, social calls, and safety checks. All Together Altoona Open House Date: Tuesday, October 29th from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. Location: Margaret Avenue Training Facility, 1747 Margaret Avenue. Purpose: To gather resident input on updating land development and zoning ordinances as part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Library Services Altoona Area Public Library Tool Lending Program Overview: Residents can borrow tools for home improvement, crafting, and DIY projects. Inventory: Includes basic handtools (hammers, ladders) and specialized equipment (power drills, pressure washers). Terms: Borrowing period is 2–28 days depending on the tool. Official Proclamations National Walk To A Park Day Mayor Matthew Pacifico has officially declared October 10, 2024 , as "National Walk To A Park Day" in the City of Altoona. This proclamation endorses the goals of the 10-Minute Walk Program® and encourages residents to utilize the city's parks and trails.
