Meeting Overview The Williamsburg Borough Council held its regular meeting on Monday, June 2, 2025. The session was called to order at 7:00 p. m. by Ed Patterson and adjourned at 7:29 p. m. Attendees: Council Members Present: Ed Patterson, Dakota Biddle, Karyn Shaw, Paula Hamilton, Bruce Hamilton, Mathew Webb, Jim Price, and Ted Hyle. Others Present: Adam Hauser (arrived at 7:05 p. m. ), Myranda Isenberg, Natalie Gorsuch, Allan Overdorff, and Maggie Merritts. Financial Reports Treasurer’s Report: A motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report for May was made by Jim Price and seconded by Karyn Shaw. The motion carried unanimously. Bills and Payroll: Paula Hamilton moved to ratify bills and intervening payroll in accordance with Resolution #2018-2. Mathew Webb seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Payment of Bills: Dakota Biddle moved to pay the bills due, seconded by Bruce Hamilton. The motion passed unanimously. Public Comment & Updates Playground Mulch: Joe Lansberry asked if mulch should be ordered for the playground. The council was advised to wait until next year because certified playground mulch is expensive and the existing mulch from last year still looks good. Police Report: Chief Hyle reported that scooter and e-bike danger has lessened following conversations with local youth. Ed Patterson noted that speeding on Plum Street has calmed down since school let out, though drivers are still speeding on W. 2nd Street; police are monitoring this area more closely. Borough Manager Updates: Rental Inspections: Phone calls were made to landlords to encourage them to proceed with the inspection process. 250th Anniversary Resolution: A motion was made to adopt Resolution 2025-02 supporting the America 250-year celebration. There was discussion regarding whether a volunteer or an elected official should serve as the representative. It was suggested to post on Facebook to find a volunteer, but no council members volunteered. Virginia Helsel (Chickens): It was reported that chickens have been removed, though verification is still needed. Basketball/Pickleball Court: Lansberry reported the court is in bad shape. Dan Verbonitz suggested using concrete (approx. $1,000 for stone and blacktop) rather than paving by hand. Lansberry will get quotes for the next meeting. Cenveo License Agreement: The council is still waiting for revisions from Cenveo. Ellis Property: No updates; the code enforcer needs to check on this unsafe structure. Penelec Property: No updates on grants. Bridge Cleaning: The state plans to clean out under the bridge during the week of June 16th or 23rd. Unfinished Business Morris Property: The property remains vacant and has not been sold.
