Borough Council Meeting Minutes Summary

Call to Order & Attendance

  • Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by President Joseph A. Pompa.
  • Quorum present: Council members Joseph A. Pompa, Brady Leahey, Michele Baker, James Mielnik, Walter Kalista III, Jeffrey Ketner, Sean Burke.
  • Also attending: Borough Manager James Gehret, Mayor Dodson, Borough Secretary Patricia J. Duron, Building Code Official Gerald Harbison, Director of Community Relations and Events Melanie Ramsey, Fire Marshal Amy Hazlett.

Pledge & Minutes Approval

  • President Pompa led the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.
  • Minutes from September 8, 2022 meeting were approved unanimously (7–0) on motion by Mr. Leahey, seconded by Mr. Kalista.

Oaths of Office

  • Mayor Dodson administered oaths to:
    • Police Chief Christopher Storm
    • Officer Michael Faussette

Reports Summary

Manager’s Report & Financials

  • Family of Greta Halbritter (d. 2021) will donate three memorial benches at Chimney Rocks Park.
  • Financials reported as “in good standing. ”

Planning & Zoning Report

  • Mr. Harbison noted his report is in the agenda binder (no details provided).

Community Relations & Events

  • Ms. Ramsey thanked voters for placing Hollidaysburg Farmers’ Market in second place.
  • Annual Pumpkinfest event scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2022: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Approved unanimously (7–0) on motion by Mr. Ketner, seconded by Mr. Leahey.

    • Install new business signage.
    • Hang 18”x11. 5” shingle sign on existing racket mounted on light pole.
    • Not over sidewalk → 8’ clearance rule does not apply.
