Overview

The Williamsburg Municipal Authority (WMA) has released its 2020 Consumer Confidence Report. This document outlines the quality of drinking water provided to customers in Williamsburg Borough and portions of Catherine and Woodbury Townships. Water Source and Supply

• Source: The public water supply is groundwater drawn from the Gatesburg Aquifer.
• Location: Water is drawn from three production wells located along Briarwood Lane in Woodbury Township.
• Capacity: The system is permitted to supply up to 1,440,000 gallons per day.
• 2020 Usage: The system provided an average of 131,899 gallons per day (48,143,135 total gallons) to 703 customers.
• Treatment: The only required treatment is disinfection via the addition of chlorine.

Contaminant Monitoring Results

The Authority monitored for contaminants between January 1 and December 31, 2020. No violations were recorded for any detected regulated contaminants.

Disinfectant Residuals and By-Products

• Chlorine: Detected at levels between 1. 30 and 1. 77 ppm.
• TTHMs (Total Trihalomethanes): Highest level detected was 11. 6 ppb (Limit: 80).
• HAA (Haloacetic Acids): Highest level detected was 4. 24 ppb (Limit: 60).

Inorganic Contaminants

• Nitrate: Highest level detected was 1. 36 ppm (Limit: 10).
• Barium: Highest level detected was 0. 0278 ppm (Limit: 2).
• Arsenic: Highest level detected was 1. 03 ppb (Limit: 10).
• Selenium: Highest level detected was 4. 26 ppb (Limit: 50).

Lead and Copper

• Lead: The 90th percentile value was 0. 84 ppb (Action Level: 15). Lead was detected in two samples, but no sites exceeded the action level.
• Copper: The 90th percentile value was 0. 097 ppm (Action Level: 1. 3). No sites exceeded the action level.

Health and Safety Information

• Vulnerable Populations: Individuals with compromised immune systems (e. g. , cancer patients, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients), the elderly, and infants are at higher risk from microbial contaminants.
• Advice: These groups should consult their healthcare providers regarding drinking water safety.
• Lead Exposure: To minimize lead exposure, residents are advised to flush their tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.
