2013 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report

Overview

This document is the 2013 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report for the Williamsburg Municipal Authority (PWSID: 4070022) in Pennsylvania. It details the water quality, sources, and monitoring results for the period of January 1 to December 31, 2013.

Water System Information

Source of Water

The water supply is drawn from three groundwater wells located south of the intersection of Sage Hill Drive and Taylor Street in Woodbury Township. These wells draw water from the Gatesburg Aquifer.

Contaminant Monitoring Results

The report lists detected chemical contaminants and their levels compared to Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL). All results were within safety limits ("N" for no violation).

• Barium: 0. 0279 ppm (Limit: 2 ppm)
• Chromium: 1. 0 ppb (Limit: 100 ppb)
• Nitrate: 1. 43 ppm (Limit: 10 ppm)
• HAA5: 2. 42 ppb (Limit: 60 ppb)
• TTHM: 8. 33 ppb (Limit: 80 ppb)
• Chlorine: 0. 79 ppb (Limit: 4 ppb)
• Uranium: 3. 38 ppb (Limit: 30 ppb)

Important Notice: Coliform Bacteria Violation

A separate notice included in the report details a violation regarding coliform bacteria found in July 2013.

• The Issue: Two out of five samples taken in July 2013 showed the presence of total coliform bacteria. The standard allows no more than one sample per month to exceed this limit.
• Cause: The sample point outside the hydrant was dirty when sampled.
• Resolution: Follow-up samples taken from the same location and two others nearby came back negative. The problem was resolved, and no harmful bacteria (like E. coli) were found.
• Action Required: Residents are not required to boil their water. However, those with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and the elderly should consult their doctors.
